Hi Friends,
Marie and I are now back in Haiti after visiting our friends and family during our vacation. All of the brothers and sisters here at the Branch and in our congregation are doing well, despite the damage inflicted by this year's hurricane season, which has hit Haiti very hard. The succession of hurricanes Fay, Gustav, Hanna and Ike have made their mark on this island in less than one month's time this year.
Today we had a beautiful day in the ministry in the village of Turbé. It is a small town 30 kilometers east of the capital Port-au-Prince. It is located only 10 kilometers from the congregation of Croix-des-Bouquets, but it is considered as unassigned territory, as the congregation is unable to witness there on a regular basis. The congregation that we attend, Bas-Santo, contacted the brothers in Croix-des-Bouquets and offered to help them for a day in that territory. They were happy to accept our offer.
This week has been a busy one with the arrival of our zone overseer, Brother Robert Tracy, Branch Committee coordinator from the Mexico Branch.
After posting the report on Tuesday on (Food Riots in Haiti), here is an update on the situation.
All businesses were closed both Wednesday and Thursday. Certain area of the city of Port-au-Prince were still blocked by barricades on the roads, including burning tires. Twenty-two gas stations throughout the city were vandalized, and it is still impossible to get fuel.
We had our meeting at the Kingdom Hall last night. Attendance of 138 was very good. All of the friends are safe and are staying far away from dangerous areas. Marie and I are doing well.
You may have heard about the ongoing riots and protests that are happening here in Haiti these days. It started last week in the southern town of Les Cayes, and then flared up here in the capital yesterday. All activity has come to a standstill. Marie and I are safe here in the Branch, along with the rest of the Bethel family.
I have an exciting experience to share, that happened just this last weekend.
On Saturday September 1, 2007, we were so pleased to see so many of our family and friends that were able to get together with us. The event was a total success. We were so happy that so many of you were able to attend.
We have now set up the site so that you can view the photos that were taken at the party, and even upload some of your own shots.

Today our congregation organized a special service day in the town of Cabaret. We had intended to go to the town of Thomazeau, but due to flooding in certain areas of the road between here and Thomazeau, we felt that it would be better to plan a trip there another time.
Well it took me longer than I had anticipated, but I am slowly adding some content to my home page.
